  • We recommend wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes. Dr Namazie may ask you to roll your sleeves up, remove jewellery and in some cases request you take your shirt off to perform a thorough examination. For women with shoulder concerns, it is advisable to wear a singlet underneath your clothes to enable easy examination while maintaining your dignity.

  • Please contact us to enquire about prices. There are different rates for the initial and follow-up consultation. After surgery, your standard follow-up appointments for a certain period is included in your fee. This is dependent on the condition treated.

  • Full payment is required at the time of your consultation with Dr Namazie. We are a cashless facility and accept payments by EFTPOS, credit card or direct bank transfer. We accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX. We do not accept cheques. If you are appropriately registered with Medicare, we can lodge your claim electronically on your behalf.

  • We understand that for many people, the prospect of surgery can be a daunting and stressful experience. We aim to make this process as seamless as possible for you.

During your consultation with Dr Namazie, he will discuss your treatment options and if you decide to proceed with surgery we will organize a quote for you.

We highly recommend you check the item numbers we supply you with your insurance company before surgery to determine if your proposed procedure is covered.

Some patients may need further assessment and optimization to safely proceed with surgery. Dr Namazie will organize appropriate referrals in this case.

Once a date and time has been confirmed, your anaesthetist and surgical assistant will be in touch. We will give you all necessary information on where to go. Your anaesthetist will contact you separately to discuss fasting instructions and what medications to take on your day of surgery.

  • Private health insurance in Australia does not pay for outpatient consultations. You are welcome to have a consultation with Dr Namazie. To access your medica rebate, you will need a referral from another doctor or appropriate medical professional such as a nurse practitioner.

If you need surgery, we can discuss fees and obtain a quote from the private hospital on your behalf. However, we do not recommend uninsured patients undergo surgery privately without understanding the significant financial risk should an adverse incident happen as hospital and treatment costs can balloon very quickly.

If you do not have insurance, your options are a referral to a public hospital or you can take out health insurance and observe the waiting period to allow for pre-existing conditions to be covered.

  • Medicare has a strict requirement that they will only issue your rebate if you have a current and valid referral. A referral from your GP or nurse practitioner will cover you for 12 months. A referral from another specialist will cover you for 3 months. If you attend without an ‘in date’ referral, you will not be able to make a Medicare claim for your consultation. In addition, your insurance company may not cover your treatment and any hospital costs will have to be borne by you personally.
